Artist Michael and Joah Thiele (Father and Son) create these instruments that blend the highest standard of visual and acoustic excellence to create drums of exceptional melodic quality. The open harmonic tuning allows the novice, as well as the veteran musician, to create new and exciting music. Exotic hardwoods blend to provide visual beauty and grace. Several styles and tuning options are available; the smallest "piccolo" drum has only four notes and is relatively high-pitched. There are also larger styles available, including the "Meditation Drum". This 24", 12-note drum includes larger mallets to accentuate its deep, mellow, "meditative" tones. (The Meditation drum is priced at $650.) The current 10-note drum is constructed of Canarywood and Walnut; it is tuned to Eb Minor.
