Harp Mollusc Shell Graphite Sculpture    $14.95
Harp Mollusc Shell Graphite Sculpture
         Tell a Friend
Harp mollusc are active, carnivorous sand burrowers. They use a very large, broad foot to smother their prey, small crabs and shrimps. These creatures have the ability to detach a small part of their foot. This sacrifice was thought to be a defense mechanism until a harp shell was observed being pursued by a box crab. The harp detached a small piece of the posterior end of its foot and the crab began to consume it. The Harp shell then circled around behind the crab and engulfed it in a thick coating of mucus and sand. The shell then began to consume the crab. This wonderful graphite sculpture is a work of art as well as a playful writing instrument. Made from composites and pure graphite this sculpture can be used to write or draw on multiple mediums or collected and displayed as an art piece. Measures 3" by 2"
